Self esteem is primarily the cumulative result of a set of judgments.  The lack of a positive attitude affects judgments about your adequacy across a range of dimensions such as intellectual competence, social skills, appearance and physical co-ordination. If you are looking at this page you already realise that your low self esteem can negatively affect every aspect of your life, from work to relationships.

Your sense of self esteem is what informs yourself and others about "who" and "what" you think you are. Often, people with low self esteem are those who set impossible, rigid or inflexible standards for themselves. These standards can be performance related and/or they can be the result of internalising unrealistic societal standards, such as those about appearance or weight affecting our confidence, sometimes causing stress and anxiety.
